Souvenir Race Car Pinback Button 1-3/4" Rare.
GREAT CONDITION!
1937 George Vanderbilt Cup Race Souvenir Race Car Pinback. The race was held on July 5th 1937. Great Britain, France, Italy, Germany and the United States had their best drivers and cars to race in a 300 mile dirt track competition in Roosevelt Raceway in Long Island. The Vanderbilt Cup was the first major trophy in American auto racing. An international event, it was founded by William Kissam Vanderbilt II in 1904. There were no races in 1907, 1913, and 1917-1935. The Vanderbilt Cup was not held again until 1936 when William Kissam Vanderbilt II's nephew, George Washington Vanderbilt III picked up the cause and sponsored a 300-mile (480 km) race at the new facilities at Roosevelt Raceway. Once again, the Europeans were enticed by the substantial prize money and Scuderia Ferrari entered three Alfa Romeo racers. A lack of American competition and a less-tha

Steamer Trunk owned by member of the Manhattan Project.
Dr. Harold M. Agnew was a leading nuclear physicist who worked on the development of the atomic bomb and the first hydrogen bomb. He flew along side the Enola Gay to film the explosion over Hiroshima and went on to become the Director of the Los Alamos National Laboratory. This trunk belonged to Dr. Agnew both before and during his time as director in Los Alamos. The baggage tag that was left inside shows that he sailed from Le Havre France (Normandy) to NY in July of 1964 which is during the time of the 20th anniversary of D-Day. Perhaps he was there to observe the remembrance? Also interesting to note that the trunk belonged to a USAF Major before Dr. Agnew. Perhaps this individual carries some significance as well.
I purchased this trunk from Dr. Agnews grandson who brought it to my consignment store. He told me the family has so many things that belonged to his grandfather he didnt mind parting with the trunk.
This is a RARE set of pins for military staff of General Marshall's headquarters in China. A little-known and understudied piece of WWII and post WWII history. Despite the visual effects of me trying to avoid a glare that make them look different sizes, these pins are a matching set and are the same size - 25MM across and 31MM top to bottom. Even more rare is that the clutch backs are also NDC marked and made in China. Venmo OK, Paypal add 3% or send as friends and family. Email bebiehl@gmail.com if interested.
This mint jacket is named to 1st Sergeant Frank M. Cambron, service #33740415 who was one of the soldiers who built the Ledo Road from China thru Burma to India. This jacket has not been altered in any way & there is no moth damage. It has the rare original theater made Ledo Road patch & the bullion/bevo CBI patch plus original WW2 collar devices & the owners wartime breast ribbons. It doesn't get any better than this.
I researched the patches & found 1 beat-up original Ledo Road path selling for $150 & another in much better condition for $450. Also found a bullion CBI patch for $150. Reproductions are available for much less, if that's is what one wants. The WW2 brass collar devices are $22 - $35. The named jacket is practically free.
The clothing tag is very hard to read, but I can see 10, 194? as the stitching goes through the last number, which I believe is a 9. The 2nd Army shoulder patch is a WW2 patch. The remaining patches are lighter in weight I feel different than WW2 quality. The brass insignia on the left collar tab is enlisted Armor with a tank & crossed swords & are WW2 vintage. All the original buttons & snaps are intact & not corroded. There are 5 waistband hooks for ?, probably for a belt of some sort. There is a laundry tag, but no name. Size 36R. A nice Ike jacket that has its original patches, etc. Note: the pair of WW2 collar insignia sell for $21.99 on 1 site & on EBAY the Armor collar insignia sells for up to $45. If requested more photos will be sent.f
I have hundreds of Uniforms, including but not limited to WW2 Russian & before to i918 (Marshalls, all of the Generals, NKVD, Airforce, Army, Navy, etc), Third Reich, WW2 Japanese, etc plus a very few post WW2. They are all going to be sol
This size 36 regular Model 44 Ike Jacket was owned by A. Costello (name on laundry tag). He was a Master Sergeant in 3rd Army Corps of Engineers. All buttons are intack & the patches are original to the jacket (nothing removed or added). There are 4 golden chevrons on the left sleeve, known as "overseas service bars".It would be very difficult to find an Ike jacket from WW2 in better condition!
I am not certain what the exact size is, they are medium to large. Hey you were not really going to torture feet by trying to wear them were you? These show light age and use, and come with the canvas gators used with them. These are the model with smooth soles of leather.

A very nice condition US WW2 Mountain Troops 2-man Tent. The tent is the standard issue government made pattern, not some surplus store knock off. It has an integral floor a ventilation duct near the top on both ends ( to deal with heater fumes) and a windproof entry opening. The tent is maker marked. It does show light age and use, and comes with the original 3-section wooden poles and tent pegs.

Original Late 1950's Japanese (I assume) Made Grayback Class Submarine Crew Patch.
NOT A REPLICA.
USS Grayback (SSG-574)
The USS Grayback (SS/SSG/APSS/LPSS-574), the lead ship of her class of submarine, was the second ship of the United States Navy to be named for the grayback, a small herring of great commercial importance in the Great Lakes. Her keel was laid down on 1 July 1954 by the Mare Island Naval Shipyard of Vallejo, California. She was launched on 2 July 1957 sponsored by Mrs. John A. Moore, widow of the last skipper of the WW2 USS Grayback (SS-208) and commissioned at Mare Island on 7 March 1958 with Lieutenant Commander Hugh G. Nott in command. Grayback was initially designated as an attack submarine, but was converted to a Regulus guided missile submarine (SSG-574) in 1958.
These submarines carried the primitive short-lived Regulus cruise missiles that were quickly phased out by Polaris SLBMs. They were the sole class designed specifically to carry the Regulus mis
