Army/Waffen-SS Flak Badge by Gustav Brehmer. Zinc-based badge by one of the rarest makers of these badges. The zinc version with square wire catch that Marc Garlasco shows in his addendum to his flak badge books seems to be the twin to this one with regards to the silver/copper finish. The copper seen is where the silver has worn exposing the copper flashing that has been applied over the base zinc to seal it for the silver to better bond with the badge. Edges of Die-Stamped badge (as shown in last two photos) are straight and clean NOT CASTED NEAR MINT COND.

This General Assault Badge is a mid-war solid zinc badge. The reverse is unmarked, but safely attributed to its Ludenscheid based maker "Schauerte & Hohfeld, Ludenscheid."
