WHEN WE WERE IN THE STORE, WE FOUND TROPICAL ISSUE, ITALIAN MADE PARATROOPER KNEE AND ELBOW PADS. WE INQUIRED AFTER MORE OF THEM AND THE FELLOW TOOK US ACROSS THE STREET TO THE WAREHOUSE.
AS HE FUMBLED WITH HIS KEYS, WE NOTED WHERE A TRIANGULAR SHIELD HAD BEEN REMOVED AT ONE TIME FROM THE DOOR. THE AREA HAD BEEN PAINTED OVER SEVERAL TIMES, BUT THE OUTLINE WAS STILL THERE.

This artifact is an authentic Deutsche Reichsbahn eagle (railway emblem), identified as a PS LOK 600 type and measuring approximately 60 cm (24 inches) in width and 34 cm (13-1/2 inches) in height. The piece exhibits very light surface wear and condition consistent with service use, reflecting its history as a mounted insignia on a railway vehicle.
Four of the original mounting studs remain intact although were neatly sawed-off by a G.I. Trophy hunter at Wars end, indicative of removal from its original setting. The reverse bears standard material composition and production markings,
including "GAL - Mg - Si," denoting an aluminum-based alloy, along with "LOK," "RZA 5," and "BERL," referencing locomotive application, railway designation, and manufacture in Berlin.

This shield was to be presented to the forces who were holding back the Balkans

activity. The designed was submitted to Hitler early in 1945 but was never mass-produced.

RARE EARLY SS VARIANT FORM / DOCUMENT
Translation:
In the attachment, the 4-Sturmbann II/19.4-Standarte submits an application from the 4-man Josef SCHULTE LOH, born 23.11.1915, resident in Haltern i./N., Sundernstrasse 14, for employment as a supernumerary at the Reichsbahn. Schulte Loh, who was drafted for military service in October 1936, fulfilled his duty at the end of September of this year. From April to September 1936 he was in the Reich Labour Service in Emsland. Schulte Loh has been a member of the Schutzstaffel since 3.11.1933 and has always carried out his service to the full satisfaction of his superiors. Equally popular with superiors and comrades, nothing detrimental has come to light about him, either in or out of service. Schulte Loh is personally known to the leader of the 4-Sturmbann II/19.4-Standarte and can only be given the best testimony.

These were issued to workers at facilities that conducted research about or manufactured weapons,
aircraft, vehicles, strategic products, war materiel or components.
History:
Before the National Socialists were elected to power, the patent holder and manufacturer of these
hard to alter metal-rimmed Rahmenausweis passes, VERMUS A.G. K?LN, also sold them to the
Cologne Street Railway as secure identity documents for users who purchased a long-term pass
on the Stadt. Bahnen Koln.
